Gang Task Force Arrests Banning Woman Suspected Of Drug Dealing

BANNING, CA β A Banning woman suspected of drug dealing remained jailed Wednesday after her arrest over the weekend in the city.
Jane Chavez, 29, was taken into custody around 9:15 p.m. Saturday after Riverside County Regional Gang Task Force officers pulled her over in the 100 block of West Williams Street near 1st Street.
The Riverside County Gang Task Force is a team of several law enforcement agencies targeting criminal street gangs.

"A record check confirmed Chavez was on felony probation for the sales of narcotics," the Riverside County Sheriff's Department reported. "Gang Task Force Officers conducted a probation search of Chavezβs vehicle and located a large amount of methamphetamine, a scale, U.S. currency, and several small zip-lock baggies that are commonly used in the sales of narcotics."
Jail records show Chavez was being held at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on suspicion of drug possession, possession of unlawful paraphernalia, transporting narcotics, and violation of probation.

She was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail and is due in court Thursday.
