Giant Wayward Pig Corralled With Doritos In CA Neighborhood

The treats were simply irresistible to this giant pig. Can you guess what flavor did the trick?

HIGHLAND, CA β€” A large pig on the loose in a Southern California neighborhood led to an interesting encounter over the weekend, and a saga that was solved by nothing other than a bag of chips. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department says deputies were called for a pig "the size of a mini horse" that was running around a Highland neighborhood on Saturday.

Two local deputies who responded to the call recognized the pig from his previous run-ins with the law, so fortunately they knew exactly where he lived. However, they had to get creative when it came to getting the animal β€” whom they affectionately dubbed 'Smalls' β€” to follow them home.

"[The deputies] lured him back home with Doritos one of our deputies had in her lunch bag," the sheriff's department said in a social media post following the encounter. "They made a trail and he followed."

The chip trick did the job.

β€œWe were able to put him back in and secure the gate," Deputy Ponce said. "It was fun!"
