Suicide On Potrero Boulevard Grieved In Beaumont
The victim was the same person who had attempted suicide in the same spot on Potrero Boulevard several weeks ago, police said.

BEAUMONT, CA β Following a tragic suicide in Beaumont this week, police are reminding community members there is help available for people who may be contemplating taking their own lives.
Shortly before 2 p.m. Monday, construction workers in the Olivewood Community called to report a body near Potrero Boulevard. Beaumont police responded, and when officers arrived at the site they found a male who hanged himself.
Police closed Potrero, between Oak Valley Parkway and Castello Lane, which is a stretch of roadway that includes a bridge spanning across railroad tracks. First responders were positioned on the bridge.

The victim, whose identity was not released pending notification of next of kin, "had been in the location for several hours before being discovered," police said.
An investigation led officers to determine the victim was the same person who had attempted suicide in the same spot several weeks ago. During the first incident, Beaumont police rescued the victim and placed him in the care of mental health workers, according to the Beaumont Police Department.

"This type of event is a tragedy for the family, as well as our community," the department said in a news release. "While suicide is often a complicated and sensitive topic, it is possible to prevent it. If you or someone you know has considered suicide, help is available."
