Human Trafficking Victim Rescued In Inland Empire: Sheriff
An investigation determined the girl traveled to the Inland Empire with at least one male adult, officials said.

INLAND EMPIRE, CA -- A teen reported missing in Northern California was rescued in the Inland Empire and is believed to be a victim of human trafficking, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department announced Tuesday.
The 17-year-old girl was found apparently loitering in downtown San Bernardino around 4 p.m. Oct. 23. Officers contacted the girl and were able to determine she was listed as a missing person out of the Sacramento area, sheriff's officials said.
An investigation determined the girl traveled to the Inland Empire with at least one male adult identified as Daniel Thomas, sheriff's officials said.

Thomas is accused of being aware the victim was working as a prostitute and helping her obtain a local motel to use. He was transported and booked into San Bernardino Central Detention Center for felony violation of human trafficking of a minor and is being held in lieu of $150,000.
The victim was rescued, provided services and released for the safe return to her family, sheriff's officials said.

The investigation is ongoing.
