Lack of coordination with residents for Slurry Seal Work

The city has no one inspecting or coordinating Public Works Projects going on in the field. Apparently they are just sitting in the office.

Last week signs were put up on Euclid Ave Between 11th and 12th St, indications that the street would be closed to all traffic between 7.00 am and 5.00 pm today. This street has limited sidewalks and the street is the only way for handicapped and parents with smal children to get out. We were told to park our vehicles on nearby streets. Not an option when you have no way to get there. I put in a request and talked to the proj3ct coordinator from city (John) who sai he would work to keep a lane open so we would have access. He did nothing. He didn’t talk to the contractor or the residents. We has a problem at 9.30 with us needing to get out. We had to work it out with the workers. Not the way to run things. I cc the City Manager and the City Engineer on two other occasions sn regarding this matter and was assured by this same person, that they work would be done 3 weeks ago, which didnt happen. My question what are these people bei g paid to do? Certainly not managed the jobs contracted out. Who is checking the work for the city.

We used to have Public Works inspectors out the job coordinating this wor, not anymore. I was a Project Engineer/ Construction Manager for many years fir then Federl Government. We always worked with the customers and residents in our work areas to minimize interruption to their daily lives, and we were out on the job. No excuse for this type of poor work effort by the city and it administration. I have nothing against the contractor or the workers as they had no idea and were told to ahead and just do they whole thing at once.
