Large Banning Police Presence Tied To Standoff, Crash Into House

The scene unfolded Monday night in Banning.

BANNING, CA β€” Banning police were engaged in a standoff situation on Monday night, prompting the closure of a main street in town. The incident was unfolding on Williams Street, between 10th and 8th streets and was ongoing as of 8 p.m.

Details are very limited at this time, but the standoff appears to be related to a separate incident involving at car that crashed into a home about a half-mile west. That scene, also, on Williams Street, led to another partial closure on the roadway. At least one person was rushed to the hospital following the crash.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department, Banning Police Department and Beaumont Police Department were all helping at the locations.
