Local Cowgirl Does Pass Area Proud
Tenth-grader Gracie-Beth Sutton is heading to the 73rd annual National High School Finals Rodeo in Lincoln, Nebraska.

CHERRY VALLEY, CA β With her prowess around horses and other livestock, a 1oth grader from Springs Charter School in Cherry Valley has been invited to compete at the 73rd annual National High School Finals Rodeo in Lincoln, Nebraska, organizers announced.
Gracie-Beth Sutton earned a spot on the California team and will be traveling with fellow Golden State representatives to the finals, July 18-24, where she will face tough competition. The event features more than 1,650 contestants from 44 states, five Canadian Provinces, Australia, Mexico and New Zealand. The NHSFR touts itself as the world's largest rodeo.
But the Cherry Valley resident is ready. She won the title of California High School Rodeo Association Cutting Champion at the June state finals held in Bishop, where she also competed in breakaway roping, team roping and goat tying. She is CHSRA District 8 Champion for the second year in a row and the 2020 California Rookie All-Around Cowgirl. Despite her young age, Gracie-Beth also has numerous other titles to her name.

In addition to competing for more than $150,000 in prizes and over $200,000 in added money, NHSFR contestants will be competing for more than $375,000 in college scholarships and the chance to be named an NHSFR World Champion.

The final championship performance will be televised nationally as a part of the Cinch Highschool Rodeo Tour telecast series on RFD-TV. Live broadcasts of each NHSFR performance will air online at www.RidePass.com.
In addition to the NHSFR event, Gracie-Beth will be competing at the upcoming hometown rodeo in Yucaipa, Aug. 6-7, and she'll be at Banning Stagecoach Days, Sept. 10-12.
