The report was first made right before 9:30 a.m. at the school's main campus in San Jacinto, according to the sheriff's department. College officials say no shots were fired and no injuries have been reported.
"The investigation revealed that there was a male on campus with a gun," Sheriff's Dep. Robyn Flores said. "He entered the cafeteria where there were students, walked up to the table, pointed the firearm at them and then exited the building."

Following the report, school and police officials directed people on the campus to remain sheltered in place as a SWAT teams swept the area.
"Anyone seen walking will be taken in by law enforcement," school officials said in a message on the MSJC website. "For your safety, remain sheltered in place while law enforcement searches the campus."
"Stay out of area and follow [law enforcement] instructions," police said as they searched.
However, after hours of searching for the man to no avail, students were allowed to leave the campus just after 1 p.m.
"As the search of the campus continues, students and faculty are being released as buildings are deemed clear by law enforcement," the sheriff's department said on Twitter.
