Man ID'd In Deadly Banning Officer-Involved Shooting
Sheriff's officials have publicly identified a man who died following a confrontation with police.

BANNING, CA β The Riverside County coroner's office Saturday released the name of a man shot and killed during a confrontation with Banning police officers. Nolan Hurtzig was a Banning resident, the coroner's office said.
Hurtzig was 29.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, who is investigating the case, the deadly encounter happened around 11:15 p.m. Thursday in the 1500 block of North Blanchard Street, near Theodore Street. Banning police had been dispatched to the area for a disturbance call.

"During attempts to detain the male suspect, an Officer Involved Shooting occurred," sheriff's Sgt. Ben Ramirez said in a news release. "The suspect was struck by a single officer's gunfire."
Hurtzig was rushed to the hospital, where he died a short time later.

No officers required medical treatment, according to Ramirez.
