Memorial Day Events Across the Valley

Ceremonies, speeches and a flower drop from a B-25 aircraft are among several tributes scheduled throughout the Coachella Valley Monday to commemorate the contributions of service men and women.

In Cathedral City, Mayor Stan Henry will offer a welcome message and Twentynine Palms Marine Lt. Col. Christopher H. Dalton will provide a keynote address during a 9 a.m. ceremony at Desert Memorial Park.

That event will also feature a performance by the Palm Springs High School band.

In Indian Wells, Lt. Gen. Herbert R. Temple Jr., chief of the National Guard Bureau at the Pentagon, will be the keynote speaker for a Memorial Day tribute at the Indian Wells Golf Resort. That event also begins at 9 a.m.

A full day of air and family activities at the Palm Springs Air Museum will culminate with the dropping of red and white carnations from one of the museum’s aircraft, in honor of those who made the ultimate sacrifice during World War II.

The memorial program and flower drop is scheduled for 1 p.m.
