Meanwhile, a makeshift memorial has popped up at the school where Earl had served principal in recent years, Anna Hause Elementary School on Carnation Lane. Flowers, balloons and stuffed animals adorn the school sign, in memory of the beloved educator.

In Earl's self-introduction to students and families on the Anna Hause website, she wrote about how she was "living her dream," working with children. She enjoyed singing, home improvement projects and a good cup of coffee.
She is survived by three daughters and a husband, Jerry, who also works for the school district.
