Updated: Motorcyclist Killed in Palm Springs Crash

A motorcyclist was killed today after striking several objects and being ejected from the motorcycle.

The crash happened at 11:10 a.m. in the area of Gene Autry Trail and District Center Drive, said Lieutenant Mike Kovaleff of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Palm Springs Station.

According to the lieutenant, the motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Gene Autry Trail at a high rate of speed before losing control, striking the curb and a few fixed objects adjacent to the roadway. Debris extended into the northbound lanes of the street.

The motorcyclist died at the scene, Kovaleff said.

He was later identified as 21-year-old Marcus Leone of Palm Springs, according to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.
