Police Have Suspect in Banning Homicide

A 33-year-old man was shot and killed in Banning and investigators said they believe they have identified the suspected gunman.
Johnny Vaughn, who was identified by the Riverside County coronerβs office, was gunned down about 10 p.m. Wednesday in the 1400 block of Williams Street, said Banning police Sgt. Ray Arretche.

Vaughn was pronounced dead at the scene about 30 minutes after he was shot, the coronerβs office reported.
No arrests have been made in the case, but investigators said they believe they have identified the suspected shooter, although he remained at large tonight, Arretche said.

No details about the suspect or the circumstances leading up to the shooting were immediately available and it was unclear if other suspects were also being sought, Arretche said.
