Redlands Police Shoot Man Suspected Of Killing Wife In Hemet

Once he recovers, Paul Galindo, 57, will be booked into Riverside County jail on suspicion of murdering his wife.

INLAND EMPIRE, CA β€” A domestic violence suspect on the run following the apparent killing of his wife was recovering Monday from a weekend police shooting in Redlands.

Paul Galindo, 57, of Hemet was shot by Redlands police around 10 a.m. Saturday just outside a restaurant at the Mountain Grove Shopping Center in the 27500 block of San Bernardino Avenue.

Officers were called to the area about a man acting erratically. The suspect, later identified as Galindo, did not abide by officers' orders and was struck in the leg by one bullet, according to news reports.

Galindo is expected to survive his injury, and once he recovers he will be booked into Riverside County jail on suspicion of murdering Brandi Galindo, 40, also of Hemet, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

The allegations stem from a Friday night call to the sheriff's department about trouble in the 42000 block of Faith Drive of East Hemet.

When officers arrived on scene just after 11:30 p.m., they found a woman, later identified as Brandi Galindo, suffering from "traumatic injuries to her upper torso," according to the sheriff's department.

Despite life-saving attempts, Brandi Galindo died at the scene.

Witnesses provided statements to deputies, which led investigators to believe the attack was a domestic violence incident and that Paul Galindo was their primary suspect.

According to the sheriff's department, Paul Galindo fled the scene after the alleged attack. Deputies searched for him throughout the night before getting word about the officer-involved shooting in Redlands.
