San Jacinto Wildlife Area: Photos Of The Day

We'd love to feature your photos on Patch!

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA β€” The San Jacinto Wildlife Area is approximately 19,000 acres, with 900 acres of restored wetlands, and Sherry King of Murrieta shared these gorgeous images she took in late December of the area.

A bit of background for those who are unfamiliar: The San Jacinto Wildlife Area "is the first state wildlife area to utilize reclaimed water to enhance its wetlands," according to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.

While waterfowl, wading birds, and quail are a few of the many animals found in this Riverside County gem, "surrounding land users are primarily agricultural, principally dry land wheat farming and dairy operations," the agency said.
