Suspected Banning Carjacker Remains Behind Bars

BANNING, CA β€” A man suspected in a Banning carjacking who was arrested late last week remained jailed Monday.

Rudy White Marin, 24, was being held without bail at Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on suspicion of using a firearm in the commission of a felony, carjacking, having a prior violent felony conviction, and violating his post-release supervision, jail records show.

Marin is suspected of carjacking a victim at gunpoint at 9:50 a.m. Friday in the area of the 400 block of East Nicolet Street, according to the Banning Police Department.

Marin allegedly knew the victim and made an escape before being captured by police about two and half hours later in the 1700 block of West Ramsey Street, the department reported.

Marin is due to appear in court Tuesday, according to jail records. He has prior convictions in Riverside County that include taking an owner's vehicle without consent, receiving stolen property, illegally possessing a firearm, evading arrest, and driving under the influence of a controlled substance, according to court records.
