Tesla Driver Killed By Wrong-way Motorist Was Yucaipa Man: CHP
The wrong-way driver was also killed in the fiery crash on the 210 freeway.
RIALTO, CA β A fiery crash Monday night on the 210 freeway that killed two people β including a Yucaipa man β was the result of a wrong-way driver, the California Highway Patrol confirmed.
The 44-year-old Yucaipa man was driving eastbound on the freeway around 7:49 p.m. in a black 2015 Tesla S when a male driver behind the wheel of a gray 2019 Nissan Altima slammed into him head-on in Rialto, according to the CHP.
"As a result of the crash, the vehicles became engulfed in flames and both drivers succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced deceased on scene by emergency medical personnel," the CHP said in a released statement.

The identities of the drivers have not yet been released.
A video sent to abc7 appears to show the wrong-way driver in the dark gray sedan making an illegal U-turn on the freeway and driving into traffic in the wrong direction (watch below).
