Threats Of A Stabbing At Banning High Under Investigation: Police

Police say they have spoken with the boy believed to be responsible for the threats and his parents.

BANNING, CA β€” Banning police are continuing to investigate reports of threats made by a local high school student, though no arrests have been announced in the case. The investigations stems from an incident that happened last Wednesday.

According to the Banning Police Department, officers were dispatched to Banning High School on Jan. 22 "regarding threats made by a male student during school."

"The threats alleged that the male was going to bring a weapon to school to stab and shoot people," police said in a news release distributed Monday afternoon. "Officers spoke to several students at the school who advised officers that they overheard another student planning to stab someone the following day."

Students never mentioned a firearm or shooting threat, police said.

By the time police were at the school and ready to talk to the student at the center of the investigation, he had already gone home, police said. After heading to his home, police spoke with the boy and his parents.

"The student denied making any threats and a consent search was conducted of the male’s residence and no weapons were located," police said.
