Tropical Storm Moisture, Firefighting Helicopter Crash: SoCal In Brief
Took a break from the news this weekend? Worry not: we've rounded up some of the stories you missed in SoCal on Saturday and Sunday.
LOS ANGELES β As the weekend wraps, we've rounded up some of the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday.
But before we jump into SoCal's other top stories: The heat will continue to kick off the new workweek β and warnings remain in place for the deserts β but forecasters are tracking a mid-week cooldown and chance for showers courtesy of Tropical Storm Eugene.
The storm formed over the weekend off Mexico's coast but was not expected to make landfall, staying comfortably off Baja California as it moved further out to sea. Even as it weakens, the National Weather Service said Eugene could boost the humidity in SoCal, making for a muggy stretch with some rain and isolated storms possible by Wednesday.

Around San Diego, forecasters said the storm's remnants could mean thunderstorms and potentially dangerous high surf. For the first time in a while, temps may dip below normal, too.

"We are in for a pretty drastic change in the pattern by the middle of this week," NWS Los Angeles noted Sunday. "For Southern California, highs will return to near seasonal normals on Monday, and actually a few degrees below normal on Tuesday- something we have not [seen] much the past month or so! Near to below-normal temperatures are expected through the rest of the forecast period, with the 'coolest' conditions occurring on Thursday and Friday."

But before that happens, heat warnings will remain intact in the mountains and deserts, and high fire dangers will linger through Monday.
