Two Trapped In Wreckage Of Traffic Crash Near Beaumont

The weekend crash happened shortly after a wrong-way driver was spotted in Lamb Canyon.

BEAUMONT, CA β€” A wrong way driver was suspected Saturday morning of causing a traffic crash in the unincorporated Lamb Canyon area of Riverside County near Beaumont that forced firefighters to free two people from the wreckage.

The crash was first reported at 11:30 p.m. Friday on State Route 79 north of Gilman Springs Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The California Highway Patrol reported a vehicle going northbound in the southbound lanes of the highway about three minutes before the crash.

Both patients were taken to a hospital with moderate injuries, the department said.

The road was closed for more than an hour before reopening at 12:40 a.m.
