Victim Identified in Palm Desert Mobile Home Pool Fatality

Authorities identified a man who apparently suffered a medical emergency while in a mobile home park swimming pool and died hours later at a hospital.
Juan Velazquez Perez, 38, of Desert Hot Springs, was pronounced dead just after 2 a.m. Sunday at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, according to the Riverside County coronerβs office.

Velazquez Perez had been hospitalized in critical condition. The emergency was first reported at 7:41 p.m. Saturday at the Palm Desert Mobile Home Park, 43101 Portola Ave., Riverside County fire spokeswoman April Newman said.
Rescuers provided emergency medical aid, and βthe male victim regained his vital signs and was transported to a local hospital for further medical treatment,β sheriffβs Sgt. Juan Zamora said earlier.
