Victim Identified in Palm Desert Mobile Home Pool Fatality

Authorities identified a man who apparently suffered a medical emergency while in a mobile home park swimming pool and died hours later at a hospital.

Juan Velazquez Perez, 38, of Desert Hot Springs, was pronounced dead just after 2 a.m. Sunday at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, according to the Riverside County coroner’s office.

Velazquez Perez had been hospitalized in critical condition. The emergency was first reported at 7:41 p.m. Saturday at the Palm Desert Mobile Home Park, 43101 Portola Ave., Riverside County fire spokeswoman April Newman said.

Rescuers provided emergency medical aid, and β€œthe male victim regained his vital signs and was transported to a local hospital for further medical treatment,” sheriff’s Sgt. Juan Zamora said earlier.
