Wind Advisory For Pass Area, Deserts: 50 MPH Gusts Expected
Strong winds and blowing dust will hit the Pass Area near Banning, Riverside County Mountains and the Coachella Valley. Here's what to know.
BANNING, CA β Strong winds and blowing dust are forecast this week for Banning, the Pass Area, and the Coachella Valley.
A wind advisory would go into effect from 2 p.m. Tuesday through 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Riverside County Mountains, the San Gorgonio Pass Area near Banning, and the Coachella Valley, according to an urgent weather message from the National Weather Service.
Sustained west winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour were expected, with gusts up to 50 mph probable, forecasters said.

"Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects and tree limbs could be blown down," the NWS said. Drivers should also use caution when driving, especially if operating a high-profile vehicle.
High winds have also prompted a Dust Advisory, according to the South Coast Air Quality Management District. Starting at 10 p.m. Monday through 8 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Gusty winds are expected in the Coachella Valley, reducing the air quality across the deserts and Pass Area.
"Recent dust events in the Coachella Valley have been difficult to predict," officials said. "The public is encouraged to pay close attention to the current conditions on the South Coast AQMD App . Coast AQMD App and on www.aqmd.gov/aqimap.
