Witnesses Sought In Wrong-Way-Driver Crashes On 60, 215 Freeways
A drunken Dodge Ram driver caused the freeway messes, according to the California Highway Patrol.
MORENO VALLEY, CA β The California Highway Patrol released details Monday about multiple weekend injury crashes on state Route 60 near the Interstate 215 interchange that were caused by a wrong-way driver who was allegedly DUI.
At approximately 2:16 a.m. Sunday, CHP units in Riverside received a call about a Dodge Ram truck heading north in southbound I-215 lanes, south of Eucalyptus Avenue.
The Dodge driver continued in the wrong direction on westbound state Route 60 to the southbound I-215 transition, crashing into "multiple vehicles," according to the CHP.

In total, three crashes occurred that involved several vehicles. Victims' injuries ranged from minor to major, according to the CHP. No deaths were reported.
To escape arrest, the Dodge driver ditched the truck and fled on foot but was ultimately found and taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, the CHP reported. An identity was not released.

This CHP continues to investigate the incident and is asking any witnesses who may have observed the mayhem to call its Accident Investigation Unit at 951-637-8000.
