Wrong-Way Driver Blamed In SR-79 Traffic Jam Near Gilman Springs
A traffic backup Tuesday afternoon stemmed from a wrong-way driver.

SAN JACINTO, CA β A blue sedan heading southbound on northbound state Route 79 Tuesday afternoon caused significant traffic delays but fortunately there were no reports of injuries as a result of the wrong-way driver.
The incident was first reported at 2:21 p.m. just north of Gilman Springs Road near San Jacinto.
Moments later, the sedan collided with a truck, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Initial reports indicated there were minor injuries in the crash, but Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department crews were quickly canceled following updated reports of no injuries, according to the CHP.
It's unclear whether the sedan driver was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs; a blood test was requested, according to the CHP.

As of 4 p.m., the crash was cleared from lanes, but traffic remained slow.
