Belmont Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested

Suspect arrested in connection with the Friday morning robbery of the Bank of America in the 2000 block of Ralston Avenue, police said.

BELMONT, CA — A Peninsula bank robbery suspect was arrested Sunday night, culminating an investigation that involved multiple agencies, Belmont police said.

Berkeley Officers arrested 44-year-old Aklilu Asefaha in the East Bay city in connection with the robbery of the Bank of America in the 2000 block of Ralston Avenue reported Friday at around 11 a.m., police said.

The investigation that led to Asefaha’s arrest involved officers and detectives from the San Bruno, Colma, Daly City and Oakland Police Departments, who identified the suspect and vehicle involved in the robbery.

Berkeley officers located Asefaha and the vehicle in an industrial area of the city, police said.

Asehafa's last known address was in Berkeley, police said.

Asefaha is being held at the Santa Rita Jail on suspicion of multiple charges according to police.
