BELMONT, CA — A fatal shooting in a Belmont neighborhood on Monday was determined by detectives to have likely been a murder-suicide involving a father and son, according to the Belmont Police Department.
The incident occurred around 8:20 a.m. on Monday at the 2400 block of Carlmont Drive. After working with the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office, Belmont detectives determined the “subsequent investigation” found that the 28-year-old son “had shot his father prior to taking his own life.”
The father was 70 years old, according to police. The department didn’t reveal the names of the deceased and detectives are working with the county coroner’s office and the crime lab “in an effort to exhaust all possibilities.”
