Cal State Long Beach's KKJZ Wins Golden Mike Award

KKJZ was honored for best radio newscast by the Radio and Television News Association of Southern California.

Cal State Long Beach-based KKJZ won a Golden Mike at the annual award gala in Universal City.

KKJZ was honored for best radio newscast under 15 minutes in a small market during the 66th annual Golden Mike Awards.

The awards from the Radio and Television News Association of Southern California were handed out Saturday night at the Universal Hilton.

KTLA took first place for the top 60 minute and daytime newscasts and KCBS won for the best 30 minute newscast. KNX won best major market newscast exceeding 15 minutes while KPCC took top honors for best newscast under 15 minutes.

Broadcast legend awards went to Bob Eubanks and Stephanie Edwards for four decades of hosting television coverage of the Tournament of Roses Parade on KTLA. Lifetime achievement awards went to KNBC’s Colleen Williams and Mike Landa, who recently retired after four decades with KNX radio.
