Election Party To Be Held At Belmont Library
"We want to create an atmosphere where we celebrate democracy and our right and privilege to vote," said Library Manager Kathleen Beasley.

BELMONT, CA - From the City of Belmont: Belmont City Clerk Terri Cook and Belmont Library Manager Kathleen Beasley will be hosting an “Election Night Out” party on Thursday, November 1, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Library at 1100 Alameda de las Pulgas. The purpose is to provide a festive atmosphere for voters to drop off their ballots, to encourage voting, and to increase voter participation. There will be refreshments, music, and lots of activities for young people. This is not a campaign event or candidate night. Local candidates have been asked not to attend.
“Because we are in an all-mail ballot election, some people miss the traditional polling place visit, so we thought we’d try to recreate that atmosphere and sense of community,” said City Clerk Terri Cook. While staff from the Elections Office will be on hand to help answer questions voters might have about their ballot or the location of Vote Centers, no ballots or voting machines will be available.
Members of Belmont’s Youth Advisory Committee will be present to greet voters and engage young people in activity. They can also help pre-register 16 and 17-year-olds. The biggest voting block of eligible voters who do not show up at the polls are in the 18-24 age range. It’s hoped that this event will foster the next generation of voters.
