Kidizens: Leveraging Love of LEGOs to Learn Civic Responsibility and Leadership

How would you like to serve as the mayor of your very own LEGO city?
At Kidizens' upcoming Summer Camps, students aged 6-11 learn all about the civics and economics of managing a city! During the camp, the students will be partnered age-appropriately to serve as co-mayors of a LEGO city which they will both create and govern. Their city will soon be filled with “residents”, each of whom will have requests, demands and opinions. They will be sending telegrams to the mayor’s offices to which the mayors will need to respond. Meanwhile, our Kidizens Team will give the mayors background information through detailed lessons on topics such as constitutions, economics, infrastructure, flags, budgeting and much more! Plus, mayors will have to handle public entities such as police force and fire department, respond to natural disasters, work on treaties with the mayors of neighboring cities in inter-city summits, and settle any court cases that may arise. It will be a camp filled with great fun, creativity and 21st Century learning!
