Morningstar Tattoo Parlor Reopens Doors To 'Overwhelming' Demand

The private studio in Belmont now boasts a one-year waiting list for custom tattoos.

Press release from Morningstar Tattoo:

April 29, 2021

Due to an increase in consumer demand for custom tattoo work in the Silicon Valley, Adam Sky opened the Morningstar Tattoo Parlor, an upscale, private tattoo studio located at 1200 6th Ave., Suite #300, Belmont, California in February 2020. As soon as the shop launched, Morningstar Tattoo Parlor commanded a six-month waiting list as Sky’s tattoo schedule was immediately booked up due to the massive community response and interest. And then six weeks later, COVID-19 hit, businesses closed, and the region sheltered in place. While the pandemic has made us all sit back and reflect on our lives, getting a fresh tattoo was at the top of the list for many Silicon Valley residents. The shop, which recently reopened its doors, now boasts a one-year waiting list for custom tattoos.

“Now that we've reopened, people are allowing themselves to pursue their tattoo dreams full force,” says Adam Sky, owner and tattooer, Morningstar Tattoo Parlor. “People have redirected their discretionary income from vacation travel to things they can indulge themselves in closer to home, like tattooing. We’re grateful as our business was hit hard during the pandemic, really tough for a business that had just opened our doors six weeks before we went into lockdown. We’re now seeing a decline in business from those clients that fly in from other cities and states to get tattooed. So we're focusing on locals and discouraging clients from visiting us if they're coming in from further than 100 miles away.”

Sky’s overwhelming percentage of clientele are technology employees and consultants from surrounding Silicon Valley powerhouse tech giants. The demand for custom tattoo artwork comes from all tech levels, from coding engineers to C-Suite executives. Bikers and sailors are way in the minority from the assumed Morningstar Tattoo Parlor clientele.

“Not too long ago, clients were afraid to get tattooed as it could be a career-limiting move,” says Adam Sky, Morningstar Tattoo Parlor, “Today we see female executives with knuckle tattoos, tech managers with full sleeves, and middle-aged professionals with huge, complex tattoos, and all are seeing success in the industry. Such a high number of tech workers sport tattoos that I saw a need to open a shop in the area to serve them better.”

Following all California Department of Public Health required protocols to prevent Coronavirus transmission, Morningstar Tattoo Parlor requires clients and artists to wear masks, have mandatory temperature checks upon entering the studio and utilize hand sanitizers. Artist stations are in private, ventilated rooms. All working artists have been vaccinated, and tattooers are highly trained in operating within aseptic work environments.

Morningstar Tattoo Parlor has guest tattoo artists available to schedule new appointments. Clients can reach out through the website at www.morningstartattooparlor.com to book an appointment and discuss artwork.
