The Veterans’ Commission will aim to educate veterans, especially seniors, about benefits and services available to them, give greater recognition for issues that affect women veterans, develop policies to increase access to affordable housing to veterans and their families, and recommend ways to better assist homeless veterans, county officials said.
Recruitment will begin within the next month for San Mateo County community members interested in one of the nine positions on the commission, according to the county. Members of the Veterans’ Commission will be appointed by the supervisors to serve three-year terms.
