Witnesses Sought in Sunday Morning Incident on Highway 101

Authorities are asking the public for help in an investigation into a shooting last Sunday on Highway 101.

BELMONT, CA -- Authorities are asking the public for help in an investigation into a shooting last Sunday on Highway 101.

Preliminary information revealed a man, who authorities believed to have drove a 2001 Volkswagon Beetle, was armed and was involved in a shooting with the California Highway Patrol.

Officials said the man was walking on Highway 101 early in the morning.

The vehicle, which was impounded, was parked on the southbound off-ramp from Highway 101 to Holly St, in San Carlos.

The man is described to be a Hispanic, 41, approximately 5' 10" tall, 150 lbs, with a shaved head and no facial hair. He was wearing a white short-sleeve t-shirt with blue and red stripes and jeans.

Investigators would like to talk to anyone who has information on this incident, particularly who saw the man walking on the freeway or his vehicle.

The incident is being investigated by the Belmont Police Department and the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office. In addition, CHP is conducting their own internal investigation into Sunday's incident.
