Young Belmont Burglars Caught After 'Lengthy' Pursuit: Cops
Police say the trio led authorities on a chase along Highway 101 and beyond before crashing and being caught.

BELMONT, CA — Belmont police nabbed three juveniles on suspicion of auto burglary and other charges after a "lengthy" pursuit across the Peninsula — and beyond — over the weekend, officials said.
It all started around 4:30 a.m. Saturday when "an alert citizen called the Belmont Police Department and stated that they had just seen two males rummaging through parked vehicles" in the 800 block of El Camino Real, police said in a news release.
Police quickly located a suspect vehicle, reported as stolen, officials said.

"Belmont Police Officers tried to pull the car over; however, the suspects refused to stop, leading the officers on a lengthy pursuit," police said. "As officers pursued the stolen vehicle on northbound US 101, the California Highway Patrol took over the chase which went all the way to Oakland...where the suspect vehicle lost control."
The driver and two passengers, all from the East Bay, were taken into custody and booked at the San Mateo County Juvenile Hall on charges that include conspiracy to commit a felony, auto burglary, felony evading, possession of burglary tools and possession of stolen property.
