Arrest: Boyfriend Wanted for Killing His Kids' Mom

A Good Samaritan led to the arrest of a suspect wanted by Long Beach Police Department for the murder of the mother of their three children, a spokesman said Monday.

"Long Beach detectives received a tip from the community that Marcos Gustavo Zermeno was at a residence in the area of Santa Fe Avenue and Oaks Street in the City of Compton," said Long Beach Police Sgt. Aaron Eaton.

"Detectives went to the location where they located the suspect and took him into custody without incident," he added.

The suspect was transported to the City of Long Beach jail and is being held in lieu of $2 million bail.

After the Aug. 4 slaying, police announced that Zermeno was a suspect wanted for allegedly fatally shooting the mother of his three young children outside the family's Long Beach mobile home, and that he fled on foot.

Marcos Gustavo Zermeno, 24, is a gang member with tattoos that include one of the name of the girlfriend he is accused of slaying in a parked car Saturday night, Aug. 4.

Eleonora Rivera Hidalgo, 22, was found wounded in the car by relatives about 10:30 p.m. that night at a mobile home park in the 6400 block of Atlantic Avenue, after they heard a gunshot, police said.
