Bayshore Library Doors, Car Wash Window Vandalized

Large graffiti was also painted down white residential walls along Division in another marring of the neighborhood, police say.

Both glass doors of the Bay Shore Library were covered in plywood, part of a recent crime increase in Belmont Shore that just last week has seen the Naples car wash also vandalized and graffiti scrawled in paint down white residential walls.

This year there has been an increase in property crimes such as burglaries, as well as car thefts, the Long Beach Police Department has reported to City Hall. According to the Long Beach Police Department's spokeswoman Nancy Pratt, the glass library doors were smashed sometime overnight June 26-27.

In what may or may not be a related incident, a window was smashed at a car wash in the 5700 block of E. 2nd St.

"Since it was possible someone might have entered the building, officers conducted a search (with the K9 unit) but no one
was found inside," Pratt emailed.
