Don't Get in the Water Following Rain, Belmont Shore-Naples: Health Officials
Officials issued a rain advisory, urging people heading to the beach to avoid swimming in areas where runoff is being dumped into the ocean.
LOS ANGELES, CA -- With rain soaking the Southland and sending runoff to the ocean, Los Angeles County health officials Monday issued their customary warning for swimmers and surfers to use caution in the water near storm drains, creeks and rivers.
Health officials noted that rain runoff can carry debris and bacteria into the ocean, making conditions particularly treacherous for people entering the water near discharge sites.

"Discharging storm drains, creeks and rivers only comprise a small portion of the beach, therefore, anybody who wants to go to the beach will still be able to enjoy their outing," according to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, which said its rain advisory will remain in place until 7 a.m. Thursday.
