Everything's Coming Up LEGO(r)
Fun stuff and new stuff and free stuff and discounted stuff for those who love LEGO® bricks!
It’s been a LEGO® brick sort of week, but isn’t every week like that?
Fun Stuff: An Exercise in Scale
Makersville held a class at Made in Long Beach to demonstrate building scales and a special technique in LEGO® bricks. We explored microscale (and miniscale), minifig scale, Minilander scale and on the last day made Cube Folk with special guest, Jason Daubert. Jason is an Adult Fan of LEGO® (AFOL) and a member of the San Diego LEGO® User Group (SANDLUG). He is well known for his Cube Folk displays at public events and especially on the LEGOLAND® Star Wars days. The Cube Dude building style was created by PIXAR animator Angus MacLane (check out his flickr site), and AFOLs (and now a few lucky Long Beach youth) have extended the style to their own visions. Amazing fun in just 3 days! Lucky kids! This class will be repeated in August at the Long Beach Sea Base. Check out the Makersville class schedule at Made in Long Beach and later at the Long Beach Sea Base here: Week by week and by activity!

Free Stuff: LEGO® Brickumentary Screening for LEGOLAND Passholders
In the world of LEGO® it’s brick everything. The LEGO® Brickumentary is a not-to-miss exploration of the LEGO® brick, its impact and uses especially in art creations. Directed by Oscar winning director Daniel Junge and Oscar nominated director Kief Davidson the brickumentary takes the viewer on a journey through the LEGO® brand. The LEGO® brick is at iconic status. There are collectors around the world who drool for their favorite past sets. Folks who search for the current hard-to-find set. Folks who collect parts for their shape size and color, because at some point they may need just that brick. There are LEGO® fan clubs (LUGs) around the world. In the brickumentary, you’ll visit with Master Builders, LEGO® Professionals and LEGO® based film makers all while exploring the question: ”Is it just a toy?”
