Family Destinations: LEGOLAND Castle Hotel

LEGOLAND hotels are immersive experiences in... the LEGO brick.

I'd missed the hard-hat tour back in January. I didn't want to miss the opening of the LEGOLAND Castle Hotel on April 27th, 2018.

It was a grand party for little old me, and a number of folks from today's media. The TV news, certainly, but also bloggers and video bloggers who love the brick, theme parks and travel. We feasted outside the castle drawbridge, in what I imagine would have been the bailey. I hearkened back to the time when I held castle building classes and thought forward to the time when I might build a huge LEGO(r) castle on a giant rocky mountain of bricks.

The Princess sat napping on the ground against a post. The rest was a whirlwind of magic, knights on horses, pageantry, trumpets, a falcon and a large room key. I took a video, you can check it out here:

The Royal Lodgings

Now, as I think about the LEGOLAND Castle Hotel, Royal Lodgings... and who might be invited to stay there... my mind wanders to none other than Mount Vernon, where George and Martha Washington lived. If I recall correctly from the tour I took many years ago, Mount Vernon had a constant stream of visitors who would arrive with a letter of introduction. The visitors would be welcome to stay at the President's home. You can read more about George Washington and Mount Vernon here. I suppose in medieval times, it might also have been the case in Olde England. In this case, perhaps it is Olde LEGOLAND.

For all ye guests of the LEGOLAND Castle and of the royal Princess and Prince, here is a video of the selection of lodgings. I suggest that if you want to specify a "Magical Wizard", "Knights and Dragons" or "Royal Princess" themed room, ye should register early, and not simply wait to arrive with a letter. Ye should also expect to pay, but ye can take the whole family in one room! A room has a King bed in the master, and three single beds (one is a trundle) in a separate children's area. A suite has a King bed in the master, three single beds (one is a trundle) in the children's area and a Queen sized pull out sofa bed.

I took a look, and there's a kids play free special, but it also appears that you might only be able to stay on packages. Take a look for your dates and see what shows up.

If you're looking for a cool, special occasion for which to book, LEGOLAND Star Wars days will be held on the first and second Saturday and Sunday in June. TWO whopping weekends! I'll be there!
