Community Corner
His Name is Feon
I love meeting interesting people, and sometimes I share them with you.

I love a community that is woven together. It's an art form, one that is mastered by Mike Wellman, at the new Atomic Basement Comics (which he co-owns with Anthony Davies). I believe in the educational and entrepreneurial world, he would be referred to as a connector.
Mike connects through popular culture. His specialty is comic books, which naturally overlaps with anything that uses the subjects of comic books. For me, that is LEGO® bricks. For Feon, who provided the entertainment for last night's event at Modica's Deli and Restaurant, that is Funko Pops.
Funko Pops are a specific format of collectible dolls, with oversized heads and large eyes. They've been around for a while, and license a broad range of characters. Funko Pops has its share of enthusiasts, who often overlap with the comic book fan base.

At yesterday's Pop Trivia night, featuring Science Fiction and Star Wars, Mike wove together his community at Atomic Basement Comics with one of his favorite Long Beach restaurants (Modicas) and a new friend (Feon). He invited me, Brickersville, and several other creatives that have visited his store.
Feon is especially interesting to me, because he is part of the Long Beach Pike community. Feon sells Funko Pops at one of the carts at the Pike shopping center. His business is called "Action Carts at the Pike" and is near the Nike outlet on the first floor. Aside from selling Funko Pops, Feon is a mechanic for the carousel! How awesome is that?

With a first name like Feon - it's a little rare - you don't need a last name. Just Feon.
So if you want to check out his collection, bring his trivia game to your special event, or to find that Funko Pop to round out your collection (he might be able to help), you can visit Feon on Fridays from 5-10 and on weekends from Noon until late.
For those of you who don't know it, I am Squigglemom, Trish Tsoisue and I'm working on a summer project to tie the role of the historic Long Beach Pike together with visitors and youth of today. I will do this through art, LEGO bricks and comic books. The goal is to identify / produce 218 things to do from July 20 through August 1 2020.
