Long Beach police tonight sought the public's help in locating missing 9- and 13-year-old sisters who were apparently not returned to a motel where they've been staying with their mother.
Deony Cherie Goodwin, 9, and 13-year-old Sharron Cherie Bess were last seen Wednesday leaving a motel in the 800 block of East Pacific Coast Highway, said Nancy Pratt of the Long Beach Police Department.
"They were with their mom at a motel and the mom turned them over to a female offering to help with caring for them,'' Pratt said. "So, the mom turned the girls over to this female and they have since turned up missing.''
The woman is black, 20 to 30 years old, 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 190 pounds, Pratt said. She was last seen wearing a black spandex top and black pants. Deony is black and was wearing blue and green pajamas. Sharron was wearing black gym shorts.
It was not disclosed when the girls were expected to be returned, nor how long they were considered missing, and it was also not disclosed why police did not seek the public's help until about 10 p.m. Friday.
But fron the time the mother called in police, Long Beach officers canvassed the area of the motel, which is not far from Long Beach Boulevard.
A press release from Pratt further elaborates and we will add that but want to get the word out fast.
