The Lineup at the Maker Faire

It's not Long Beach, but it's very exciting, and I'm going!

I'm playing a game, and it's taking me places. I'm going to the Bay Area Maker Faire, and it's looking very, very good.

In 2012, even before the Community Lemonade Game was born, I was finding myself as a maker, and not confident enough to identify myself as a maker. Now I know that everyone is a maker, because everyone makes something, and if you make something - anything - you're a maker!

With that in mind, I think it might be amusing to those who know me that I ever doubted my maker self. Still I was going to the Maker Faire for the first time, and I shared it with you.

Since then, I've spent my time making makerspaces and serving makers, and even created Makersville to serve those who make.

I'm headed to the Maker Faire again, and checking out the lineup... and it's looking very good.

Honestly, when I've been to the faire in the past, I usually wander around the booths without a plan, and there's plenty to interest me. I don't really seek out speakers. I even missed participating in an interview with Massimo Banzai (co-creator of the Arduino) once. Much to my chagrin it was scheduled at the last minute for those who write, and my airplane ticket had me arriving the next day. It's just as well I couldn't go. I wasn't sure what I might say to such an icon. I suppose a blogger like me would just hover in the wings and listen. It happened also with Dale Dougherty, who started a movement. The Maker Movement. Bloggers have no formal training in interviewing.

Anywhoo. I think I'll plan on adding some of the speakers to my list of things to do, because there's a nice lineup planned! Who's your favorite? Here are some I'm putting on my short list. I know, the faire is very - busy - and I hope I make it to see at least one of them!

My Short List
