Long Beach Apartment Fire Prompts Evacuation
An evening blaze downtown caused no injuries but fire officials clear out all residents of the building.
The cause of a downtown Long Beach apartment building fire was under investigation after numerous residents were evacuated and stood out on Atlantic Avenue Tuesday night.
Patch reader and contributor David Newell returned home from work about 6:30 p.m. not far away when he saw the Long Beach Fire Department engines and ladders, he reports. He took three photos and reported the following:
"100 Atlantic Avenue was completely evacuated due to a fire which occurred in the trash-chute of one of the upper floors," Newell said after talking to a fire department captain at Station 1. "He stated that there was no loss of life, or great amount of damage. The cause of the fire remains undetermined."
