Long Beach Man, 72, Dies After Attack
Police say Miguel Lopez was found lying in the street near Alamitos Avenue Aug. 21 and later died.

A 72-year-old Long Beach man has died of injuries he suffered in an Aug. 21 attack that left him in the roadway near Alamitos Avenue and New York Street, police said.
Officers found Miguel Lopez, the victim of a battery, laying injured in the street Tuesday, Aug. 21, at about 11:50 a.m. that day, and reported that he suffered upper body injuries.
Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman Lisa Massacani said Lopez was taken by paramedics to a nearby hospital where he was listed in critical condition, initially. Late Thursday night, August 23, at approximately 11:40 p.m. Lopez, a Long Beach resident, passed away, Massacani said in a news release.Â

"The investigation revealed that the man had been the victim of a battery, and was left in the road after the suspect injured him," Massacani wrote. "The suspect, described as a black adult male, was last seen walking southbound on Alamitos Avenue."
