Long Beach Players Score in Olympic Water Polo Win
Long Beach's three amigos make goals in the men's water polo victory over Romania.
Spoiler Alert: Don't read on if you were waiting to watch the games on tape later, but we're assuming you want to know right now. The U.S. men's water polo team defeated Romania 10-8 in their second preliminary game. The team is now 2-0 after defeating earlier this week.
Long Beach team captain Tony Azevedo, 30, scored once on two attempts and Ryan Bailey scored three out of five attempts, while the third Long Beach player, Chay Lapin, served as goalkeeper. Seal Beach's Adam Wright got on the scoreboard twice to help lead the team to victory. Team USA will take on Great Britain, the Olympic home team on Thursday.
Azevedo was the top player in the nation when he was at Wilson High School, and Ryan Bailey told the L.A. Times he has known Tony since he was a baby.
