Update: Long Beach Special Olympics' Tip-A-Cop

Claim Jumper restaurant servers will be uniformed Long Beach officers and their tips support athletes' games.

Updated Friday, 3:30 p.m.: Special Olympics of Southern California tweeted today that this one-night, four-hour event netted more than $40,000 under the waiter-waitressing of Long Beach police officers, who donated all tips to the non-profit. That is about $10,000 an hour.

One of the most popular--and successful--fundraisers for the Long Beach-based non-profit Special Olympics of Southern California is 'Tip-A-Cop,' and Claim Jumper Restaurant on Pacific Coast Highway is Thursday night's spot.

East Long Beach's restaurant is among eight Claim Jumpers from Inland Empire to Orange County and L.A. where law enforcement officers are waiting tables, taking food orders and delivering the meals, according to Special Olympics Southern California (SOSC).
