Marina Pacifica Sells Out 'Avengers.' Is 3-D Worth It?
We were in line for the 7:20 p.m. screening at the Long Beach AMC, with scores of others an hour ahead. Take our poll on the value of 3-D.
So opening Friday night at Belmont Shore's closest cineplex, Marvel Comics' 'The Avengers' delivered as reviews promised, our carload thought. And the expected blockbuster required standing in line about an hour ahead of screening time.
By 6:20 p.m., the 6:30 p.m. showing was long sold out, the ticket sellers said, and a line had already formed for the 7:20 p.m. screening. Half the theater was already sold out, probably driven partly by this trailer 28.5 million had viewed by the opening.
Fortunately, this Mom had made herself microwave popcorn (hey, even The View host Elizabeth does this) so I was prepared to stand on line while the boys hung out at nearbyBarnes & Noble.

The movie was an all-Nintendo-Thumbs-up hit, but the carload divided on whether the 3-D was worth $3 extra per ticket. I didn't think it looked much different with glasses off, but what did you think?
