Massive Sewage Spill Closes Beach
About 250,000 gallons of sewage spilled into the storm system, washing out to sea in the Long Beach area.

All coastal beaches in Long Beach were closed today due to a sewage spill in the San Gabriel area that was discharging into the ocean.
According to Long Beach health officials, about 250,000 gallons of sewage spilled into the storm system about 33 miles upstream from the city.
The city’s health officer, Dr. Mitchell Kushner, ordered the closure of all open coastal beaches until lab results confirm the water is safe.
