Melanie Edwards Joins Jewish Long Beach Staff

After a search process that yielded exceptional candidates from across the country, Jewish Long Beach is pleased to introduce Melanie Edwards as its manager of marketing and outreach. A Southern California native, Melanie comes to Jewish Long Beach from the University of Kansas Hillel, where she has spent the past two years as a Springboard Fellow and engagement associate. She has extensive background in both marketing and Jewish communal service, having also served as a Global Service Corps Fellow with the Joint Distribution Committee in Israel as well as with Ruiz Strategic Communication Agency in Los Angeles as a marketing professional. Melanie will be managing the organization’s communication and outreach efforts, including social media and e-mail campaigns, as well as the segmentation and analysis of the organization’s databases. Melanie will also be managing many of the activities of Jewish Long Beach’s Alpert New Leaders Forum, Lentzner Fellows Program, and Women’s Philanthropy Cabinet. Her first day with Jewish Long Beach was July 6.

Formerly the Jewish Federation and Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Long Beach and West Orange County, Jewish Long Beach serves the Jewish and broader communities through strategic grant-making, development of emerging leaders, advocacy, and management of the community’s philanthropic funds. The organization awards over $500,000 in grants annually to nonprofit organizations throughout Long Beach and West Orange County. It also manages approximately $30 million in assets and owns and operates the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Jewish Long Beach Campus, which houses the Alpert Jewish Community Center and other independent Jewishly-focused community organizations.
