Deadline 5pm: Name the Aquarium's Newborn Seal

You can call her baby, but we want to call her something. What should it be?

While some of us in the Patch newsroom favor the name Cecilia, we want your suggestions for a good name for the Aquarium of the Pacific's 16-day-old newborn seal pup. Usually, the Aquarium in Long Beach waits some time before naming the pups, and sometimes donors are offered that priviledge.

But Aquarium spokeswoman Marilyn Padilla said the staff would be interested in what Patch readers come up with. The public won't be able to view mother-daughter seals for some while, so we are enjoying the updated photos.

You may recall we got to watch the newborn's first swim when she was just a couple days old, but click here to watch it again.

So post your name suggestions in comments here before Saturday at 5 p.m., and we'll announce the winner Sunday morning. The Aquarium has graciously donated two admission tickets and two behind-the-scenes-tour tickets. Although the mother-pup duo will not be viewable by the public, as they are being shielded so as best to bond naturally. But you just may get a sneak peak of the ... penguins!

Note: The winning name on Patch.com, as well as all the suggestions here, will be submitted to the Aquarium, but it retains final decision on all names. Questions? E-mail editor Nancy.wride@patch.co
