Police Shooting, Chase Lock Down LB Neighborhood
One Long Beach Police Department officer shot at a fleeing suspect, who evaded capture and was being hunted with SWAT Team support.

A Long Beach police officer shot at a fleeing suspect being chased Monday night and a special weapons team locked down the neighborhood into which the man escaped, police said. An unknown number of residents were evacuated, and it was not known how many and for long they were displaced.
The pursuit happened about 6:35 p.m. in the area of Eighth Street and Maine Avenue, said Long Beach police Sgt. Aaron Eaton. No officers were injured and it was unclear if the suspect was struck, Eaton said.

It was unclear why the suspect was being chased. An unspecified number of residents were evacuated and several streets in the area were closed as police searched for the suspect, who remained at large late Monday night, Eaton said.
Fox news reported that the officer who fired on the suspect was female but Eaton said late Monday night he "could not identify the officer at this point."
